Liyun & Bryant : This was a celebration of love with events occuring over 3 days in the wine country in Northern California. The couple, Liyun and Bryant were the perfect host for friends who came from all over the world. The celebration started with the rehearsal dinner in St. Helena at Tra Vigne on 08/27. The wedding was held on Friday, August 28, at the Hans Fahden Vineyards. Finally the Oyster Bake & BBQ was held at the Tomales Bay State Park on Saturday. The Zulu Ball 2009 : On Friday Night February 20, 2009, the ZULU Social Aid & Pleasure Club, Inc held its annual Ball at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. With over 17,000 people in attendance, covering all racial, economic, and social backgrounds. The Coronation 2009 presented King Tyrone A. Mathieu Sr. & Queen Sheila B. Mathieu. The entertainment was provided by Chocolate Milk and Babyface.

Southern University Alumni Birmingham Chapter Mardi Gras Ball : On Saturday, February 7, 2009 the Birmingham Chapter of Southern University Alumni held its twenty-seventh annual Mardi Gras Ball at the Exhibition Hall of the Boutwell Auditorium. Over $165,000 dollars has been given in scholarships to Birmingham Area students to attend Southern University. The reigning royality for this year's affair was - King Kofi Lomotey(Chancellor of Southern University Baton Rouge campus) and Queen Isis Jones(Radio Personality 98.7 KISS FM). Music was provided by Private Property and the event was catered by LeRose. We drank, danced, and ate the night away - a great time was had by all.

ABWA Alabama Council Inauguration : The American Business Women's Assn. held its Inaugural event for the Alabama Council on February 7, 2009 at the Renaissance Hotel and Spa in Montgomery, AL. The Alabama Council members include the Montgomery Charter Chapter, Montala Chapter in Montgomery, Birmingham Charter Chapter, Heart of Birmingham Chapter, and the Scenic South Charter Chapter in Decatur, AL. Several ABWA members from the Atlanta Area Council and the Columbus, GA Tri-City Council were also in attendance to celebrate this event.

ABWA B'ham Charter Chapter WOY : The Birmingham Charter Chaper of the American Business Women's Assn. held its Woman of the Year event on Friday, March 13, 2009 at the Birmingham YWCA. Sandy Donahoo, chapter president was selected as the 2008 - 2009 Chapter Woman of the Year. The guest speaker for the event was Mrs. Myrna Jackson-1st Vice President of Metro Birmingham NAACP. Guests included family, friends, members of the ABWA Heart of Birmingham Chapter and members of the Birmingham NAACP.
